Getting the Groom Involved

You have said I do and you have set the date.  It's time to jump into the planning.  The longer you have to plan the better.  It will allow you to shop around and get good pricing and vendors.

Doing this all alone?  Is your hubby to be not participating as much as you wish he would?  Here are some suggestions to get him on board with the planning.

Most men will just go along for the ride and agree on what you want.  To a certain extent I say cool!

The Wedding Venue

The ceremony and reception venue are so important to the outcome of your wedding day.  There are so many things to think about.  I know most of you are just thinking about the beautiful atmosphere you want, perhaps the ocean, perhaps the country, but there are more things to think about than just this.

Really review what you are getting for the money you are spending.  Are the hours they allow you to have the space what you are looking for?  Are you getting full use out of those hours?

Cruise Honeymoon

Are you still trying to plan where to take your honeymoon?  After planning and paying for your wedding and reception money is probably tight.  A cruise is the way to go.  It not only gets you to great destinations, it includes meals, entertainment, lodging and pampering.  There are some things that are not included that you have to pay extra for but that is all within your control and you can make your choices whether to do them or not.  Even without the extras the trip will be great.

Wedding Venue

Aside from an affordable price from a venue I would love to hear from current planning brides and grooms as to what they are looking for in a venue.

What are you looking for aesthetically?  What features are you hoping for?  What liberties are you looking for?  Perhaps that you are able to bring in your own alcohol?  Perhaps that you can bring in outside catering?

I am seeing more and more brides and grooms wanting to extend their reception until mid-night.

Pre-Marriage Counseling?

Some denominations require pre-marriage counseling.  My husband wanted to marry in the Catholic Church so we had to go through the one day class and the long weekend at the mission in Oceanside.  Well, my husband pretty much snoozed through the entire process.  I can't say that I got much out of it either.  I think this was mainly because we were working in big groups and it was just not comfortable to really talk about things.

I am not one for formal counseling, but I do think that if you are considering getting married you and your partner should discuss important issues in life and how you feel about them.
